Analysis of Matured Trials
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Count is as joy in your trials,
When you meet trials of all kinds;
Testing your faith that defiles,
Making steadfastness in the minds.
Faith works patience to make perfect,
That desire comes temptation;
Strengthening faith as to reject,
For building on your foundation.
If anyone lacks the wisdom,
Ask God who gives generously;
Without reproach from His Kingdom,
And given luxuriously.
Ask with no wavering or doubt,
For doubts are like waves in the sea;
Driven by wind and tossed about,
A slavery to its decree.
People must not suppose He will,
Receive anything from the Lord;
Let the Holy Spirit instill,
Of His wisdom as a reward.
Those unstable in all his ways,
The lowly brother boasts to laud;
While he unceasingly prays,
To the Almighty Triune God.
But the wealthy will be made low,
Like grass withers to pass away;
Because only the Lord will know,
Their riches made them go astray.
The sun rises with scorching heat,
The beauty of flowers perish;
Death will be the wealthy defeat,
And the pursuit that they cherish.
