Analysis of Beggars

Pedestrian: Blind beggars, Young beggar,

Perching with the flies

Your hands in your bowl

Blind beggar, Strong beggar,

Let me heal your eyes

Windows to the soul

And work for your bread.

Beggar: No alms? Then don’t refer-

Leave me alone!

To be blind I prefer

Than to bother my bones.

About this poem

This poem sheds light on the mentality of the common beggar who when given the opportunity, is likely to remain in a state where things are handed over to him.
