Analysis of The Contender
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
Mary, Mary quite contrary,
Oh no you’re really not,
You only seek the will of God
And this is what you’ve got.
The promise, the warning,
The peace and joy, the everlasting life.
He’s changing you and made you new,
You’re a wonderful mother and wife.
So, continue on now, don’t be shy,
Jesus is your friend!
With quick wit and cutting remarks,
In love for Him contend.
