Analysis of It's not supposed to hurt #
Life isn't supposed to hurt;
Being there wasn't supposed to die.
Things aren't always there,
within a perfect eye.
But when love catches its breath,
Hate lets out its cry.
"Pity me" it says;
"our love was just a lie".
Mouths are teased apart,
though words have to mean something.
There are limits on the heart;
even first love seemed unclean.
Fists didn't know any better,
Collapsing innocence moved in threats.
I wish I could have taken more,
than what my being would let.
But I didn't see the rocks
and I was blind to your love's
temporary pursuit.
And even now a part of me,
still clings to my salute.
It says my loyalty was meant to be.
In this life or the next.
How dear could that have been?
All the kisses you took without me,
one day, honestly to be seen.
