Analysis of Peacemakers Needed

An intern assisted a surgeon
The task was uncommonly grim
The no-other-choice amputation
Of a sick patient's, gangrenous limb

The tension was high as they partnered
In sync on this critical day
Each one must perform with exactness
His part in the drama-filled play

Then a medic performed his role poorly
Disrupting the delicate act
Disrupting their rhythm and timing
And pushing postop’rative back

The surgeon erupted in anger
Careening the poisonous blade
Haphazardly piercing the intern
In the flesh of his arm, where it stayed!

Jaws dropped at the uncalled-for tantrum
Eclipsing the medic's miscue
His breach of professional conduct
Was worse than the fellow's snafu!

Years later the intern, now surgeon
Thought back to that gone-so-wrong play
And wondered which one was more toxic
That knife or the discourse today!

Civility no longer matters
Replaced by profaneness and blame
Men gleefully dissing another
Without consequence, without shame!

Lawmakers and pundits and actors
Revile and malign and condemn
Lambasting the person who speaks out
With diff'rent opinions than them!

Why haven’t we learned these inciters
Who’ve stirred up the pot nationwide
These peddlers of influence shouting
Seek not to unite, but divide!

Why haven't we learned as a people
That anger will never persuade
That rudeness will never build bridges
That peacemakers never degrade?

Peacemakers are urgently needed
The world stage is increasingly dim
Peacemakers will welcome the Savior
Peacemakers intern under Him!
