Analysis of Guilt for moving on

Mark A. Klein 1965 (Cairo, Ill)

Memories shattered
as time walks by
Distant as the stars with just a glimmer of the past

Guilt engulfs me for moving on
That I share happiness
So I should be damned
Pestilence be upon me

No more should I hold your picture
To think I deserve the right
Have I forsaken you
Please let this guilt move on

My love has not withered
To you I’m not lost
Just time seems too long
And I am alone

Forgive me I pray
That our time will still come
My memory awakened
Just like it was before

About this poem

What if the love of your life passed from this life. And after time you found someone to fill the loneliness. Started having good feelings again. How would you feel about moving on?
