Analysis of One More Shot
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
The neon lights flicker
In this city of sin
Where the broken and lonely
Find solace within
I drink to forget
All the pain and the hurt
That life has thrown at me
And left me in the dirt
The bars and the alleys
Are my sanctuary now
Where I can drown my sorrows
And forget all my how’s
The cigarettes burn
As I inhale the smoke
And ponder the meaning
Of this cruel life's joke
I've given up hope
Of finding love or success
But in this world of darkness
I've found a strange kind of bliss
So I'll keep on drinking
Until all the pain is gone
And I'll face tomorrow
With the break of dawn
For in this life of ours
Sometimes pain is all we've got
And in the end, my friend
We're all just one more shot.
