Analysis of Grief

Thunder rumbles loud,
Electric charge fills the air,
Startled, we jump up.

Turbulent feelings
Boldly faced with steady mind
Emotions made calm

Heavy clouds above,
Lead to a heart filled with gloom,
Loneliness consumes.

Heavy heart, shallow breaths
Tears fall like rain, body aches
Grief consumes, stays close.

Heart races quickly,
Breath shallow, mind in chaos,
Panic overwhelms.

Heavy heart burdened,
Guilt consumed, can't be shaken,
The weight of regret.

Fiery rage within
An ember of fury burns
Control lost to wrath

Standing steadfast strong
Against forces that oppose
Resistance endures

Blossoming like spring,
Hope fills our hearts with new life,
Promising a chance.

Embrace all that is
Unfold, let go of fear's grip
Find peace in your heart

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
