Analysis of Acceptance

I'll be here for every child that needs
My love and care will never fade
For those who feel their true selves aren't seen
Their voices stifled, their hearts restrained
Whether they're atheist or gay
Or just want to chase dreams in their own way

I'll be their source of acceptance and grace
Their harbor on tumultuous seas
To be themselves free without hypocrisy's weight
And find success in their unique fantasies
Whether they're out or still in the closet, gay or straight
My love will never abate

I'll stand by them in their unconventional paths
A constant champion, cheering them on
Full of hope, never with doubts or laments
Helping each child believe they belong
Whether they choose an artistic life
Or an academic journey of strife

My heart will always beat for every child in need
Their well-being my ultimate goal
For every queer child feeling unloved and ashamed
I'll be the loving hand that pulls them to shore
And with a strength that few can breach
Together we'll break all barriers and reach

For every child that needs acceptance and grace
Who feels the weight of their parents' expectations
And longs to break free and find their true place
With unwavering love and a steadfast dedication
I'll be the shining star that lights their way
And stands beside them come what may

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
