Analysis of Mosaic

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

The things we love
Are not merely objects,
They're pieces of our souls we've collected.
In our hearts,
They find a permanent place,
Becoming a part of us,
And now we can trace
Our paths back to the moments
We discovered
How these things could make us feel
Recovered.

Though the people who made them
May depart,
Yhe love we have for them never loses heart.
Their uniqueness gets intertwined
With our being,
And we become a part
Of what we've been seeing.
In the fabric of our lives,
They are woven
With threads of memories,
Both happy
And broken.

These things we love now become a part of us,
A mosaic
Of our past,
Present,
And future
Yet to be seen.
Through the years,
They'll remain steadfast,
Reminding us
Of the stories
That once passed.
And when we carry them with us
Into the future,
We'll feel like we've captured
Pieces of the picture.

These things are more than mere tokens,
They're symbols
Of the love that is unbroken.
And as time goes on,
We will always hold true
To the memories
They bring
And what they grew
Inside of our hearts and our very own souls,
Forevermore,
Our love for them
Will unfold.

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
