Analysis of Tree

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

Some days I'm an oak.
Others, I'm a willow.
I'm strong.
I bend.
As a tree,
My leaves sway in the gust,
My roots grounded.
I remain delivered.
Outside,
I face a world
That feels unknown,
A place
Where I may not belong
Or have developed.
Questions haunt me.
I'm unsure,
And unsure again,
And unsure once more.
Insecurity swells,
Like it never has.
