Analysis of WEIGHT

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

It is another early morning. I am awake before the birds. Maybe this time, I will wake them up with my song, and with tired eyes, they can sing along. Too many things have been weighing me down. What is happening to me? I thought I broke those chains so I could roam free on this earth.

There's sweat dripping like the storm rain pouring from my skin as they continue to whip me with their worker's man hand because they hate to see a once a loser win.

I am taking my lashes as if every strike is breaking my skin, yet the tears will not fall for this man that is becoming another version of myself because I know at last I am right, and this is the battle my now fearless heart was meant to fight.

There is this weight on my shoulders, and it was put there because someone knew that it was a weight that I could bear, even though there were those moments when I wished that it was a weight I could share.
