Analysis of The Long Road
Times are hard, when you feel so alone,
And every path you walk, it feels so unknown.
You cant go back, no, you must stay in this place,
But every single moment, I’m longing to touch your face.
The days turn to months, and the months turn to years,
And the pain turns to sadness, and the sadness turns to tears.
The nights are so cold, and the days are so long,
And every memory a reminder, of what I’ve done wrong.
I try to find peace, but you’re just so far away,
And when I try to speak, I cannot find the words to say.
I might not be home, but I’ll never be too far,
To look up toward the sky, and wish upon a star,
That maybe your looking up, and wishing on that star too,
And find comfort just knowing, Im thinking of you.

About this poem
Written during a 5 year incarceration for a drug charge. Feeling empty and lost away from my child, and family. The hardest time of my life.
