Analysis of Too Late

Rays of sun glimmer like diamonds on the waves
Kissing my skin all over, so softly
I close my eyes so everything fades
Imagining the warmth as strong arms to hold me

Strong winds surround my listless soul
Twirling, spiraling, twisting, and smothering
Is this life my friend, or is it my foe
I’m basking in the essence of this eternity

The thoughts are too loud
Like thunder striking bold
As if I’m floating on clouds
Suffocating in the mold

I’m reaching, grabbing, desperately holding on
Don’t leave me yet, I’m still not ready
I don’t want to open my eyes because then you’ll be gone
I give myself to the count of three

It’s too late

About this poem

Just words that were swirling around my head. I wrote them on my father's birthday, grieving the loss of him after 2 years
