Analysis of Disconnected
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
The wind whispered secrets
As the waves crashed,
A symphony of forgotten words.
But I was deafened
By the thunderous silence,
And my pen fell from my hand,
No longer able to translate
The ancient echoes.
Lost in the vast expanse,
I stumbled upon
Fragments of memories,
Shattered like seashells
On the shore.
Each piece,
A whispered confession,
Too fragile to hold.
The saltwater air
Wrapped around me,
Kisses from the sea,
Beckoning me to dive into the depths,
To succumb
To the weightless embrace.
But fear clung to me like barnacles,
Refusing to let go.
I yearned to be the shoreline,
A boundary between realms,
Forever in flux.
But instead,
I was a discarded anchor,
Buried in the sand,
A relic
Of forgotten dreams.
The seagulls
Sang their mournful hymns,
While the sun
Dipped below the horizon.
And I, too, let go,
Unraveling like the tide,
Becoming one
With the vast unknown.
