Analysis of Intense Longing
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
In the morning
When the coffee
Is hot
And the dreams
Are still fresh
In my mind
When the bathroom mirror
Reveals the truths,
My longing
For you
Is a fire.
When the busy streets
Start to clog
With folks in a rush
When the bird songs
Are mingling
With the passing cars
I'm caught
In my love for you.
When the realization
Of your absence
Hits hard
Like a punch
When the emptiness
In my chest
Feels like
It will forever stay
My heart
Still beats for you.
