Analysis of Lethargic

My ambition, crippled and naked,
Lazily sprawls, hungry for action.
A sensual dance, a primal tango,
Nervously shivers within my bones.

The flame that burns, unfulfilled desires,
Taunting, teasing, seductive whispers.
Eager hands, slip and slide in slumber,
Yearning for tender touches of sleep.

Yet my body, so slothful and feeble,
Lingers in bed, succumbing to drought.
Imagination writhes, like a temptress,
Provoking the dormant depths within.

Lethargy, you mistress of my soul,
Bind me in your grasp, sweet chains of desire.
In this languid state, I find pleasure,
A decadent feast, savoring the race.

Crossing the line, where passion drowns in sleep,
I surrender to the potency of ease.
My ambition, sculpted by this indolence,
Awaits the moment when desire ignites.

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
