Analysis of Whispers

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

I often think the night
Is more alive than the day,
When shadows dance
In the embrace of moonlight,
Whispering secrets,
Enticing us to stray,
From the paths we follow
In the glaring sunlight.
In darkness,
We find freedom
To be ourselves,
To shed the masks
That bind us
Through daylight hours,
Like nocturnal creatures,
We wander and delve,
Into the depths of our souls,
Where courage matures.
