Analysis of Chosen Preferences

With time and investments,
In our own interests made.
Begins to establish,
Chosen preferences we make.
Not to abandon or give away.

Some choose to believe,
Opportunities created...
Are for them to get without them to earn.
Yet perceive they deserve,
A serving of the benefits.

And when the benefits are not there,
From thin air to receive...
A protesting begins.
Not to hear the end of this.
Without one protestor to come forward to say,
They spent a lifetime preparing,
To qualify with sacrificing their time.
With proof of investing,
Effort to endeavor without begging...
From anyone for an opportunity to prove,
The benefit is theirs to give it.
And not take to believe a favor is given.

'I am here to enhance what it is you do.
Like my ancestors in the past.
You used until they were disqualified too!'

'Why didn't you mention that from the start.
Of course we knew your ancestors.
That's how we became the people we are.
You didn't have to protest.
You didn't have to make an issue out of it.
Was it the attention you wanted?
To have it known without your ancestors,
We would not be this great establishment.
Or did you want to boast,
About how your ancestors...
Provided the values,
We use to choose...
To discriminate and segregate,
Ourselves from others?
When you should know by now,
We do our best to attempt to be...
A color blind society.
By all means come join us.
Your presence alone,
Qualifies you to enter through...
Our sacred gates.'

'Sure.
And...
The name of this place?'

'What about it?'

'How long do I have to wait,
To have it changed?
You know...
For something less pretentious.'

'Come on.
With that imagination of yours?
I know you came come up with something,
Much more realistic, accepting and diverse.'
