Analysis of Not Funny Anymore

JESUS BETANCOURT 1955 (New York)

Wanted to become a comic
Instead of jokes I wrote poetry
Silly observations of scenes bucolic
Intended humor ended up poetically

People often forget a joke
A poem they'll remember forevermore
Now poems my pen will only stroke
As a poet I'm not funny anymore
