Analysis of Painted Tears

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

Painted tears
Fall from
Etched eyes
Onto an
Empty canvas.

Each drop
An echo
Of love
Whispered,
But not held.

Brushstrokes
Trace
The contours
Of longing
Unfulfilled.

Colors bleed
Into the
Gaping void.

A portrait
Of despair
Unveiled
In every tear.

Sorrow's palette
Captures
The essence of
Broken dreams.

The canvas
Becomes
A mirror
Of fading hope.

Painted tears,
The silent
Witness to
Heartache's
Enduring presence.
