Analysis of The New Commandment
I am writing no new precept,
Rather an old one from the start;
The old commandment you accept,
Is of the Word that you impart.
The new commandment that I write,
Since the darkness passes away;
Already shining the true light,
That will assist you to obey.
If you say you are in the light,
And you are hating your brother;
Then you walk in the dark of night,
For the feelings of another.
If you are loving your brother,
Then you do abide by the light;
You stumble not for each other,
And will find favor in God’s sight.
Hating your brother in the dark,
Then the darkness blinding your eyes;
Aimlessly walking to embark,
Will not see Satan in disguise.
