Analysis of Prayer for All
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I urge that your supplications,
To be included in your prayer;
Thanksgivings and intercessions,
For all people to God you share.
Pray for those in authority,
For a peaceful and quiet life;
In godliness and honesty,
Far from the turmoil and strife.
This is good and acceptable,
Pleasing in the sight of the Lord;
To our Savior perceptible,
When we do live in one accord.
God desires all to be saved,
Come to the knowledge of the truth;
Not letting them to be enslaved,
By earthly sin which is uncouth.
For there is one mediator,
Between God and man which is Christ;
As our facilitator,
The Son who was sacrificed.
He gave Himself as a payment,
From the testimony given;
For judgment as an arraignment,
For our pass into Heaven.
I’m not ordained as a preacher,
But a poet to tell the truth;
That has made me as a teacher,
Making amends back in my youth.
