Analysis of Monday Morning Mourning Clothes
The perfect fit for working woes,
Gruffer than ascetic’s throat,
His Monday morning mourning clothes.
Dull to hide the dust that snows
On labors’ scuffled quest for groat,
The perfect fit for working woes.
Like the birds who, soaring, crow
Cloaked in blue-black overcoats,
His Monday morning mourning clothes
Hedge against imagined foes,
A downy guard against their gloat.
The perfect fit for working woes.
And as the cart behind him slows
Dragging hours’ steady rote,
His Monday morning mourning clothes
The barely breathing breezes blow.
And stitches frayed as feathers float...
The perfect fit for working woes,
His Monday morning mourning clothes.
