Still don't know who were
Those kids I could see
Until I saw her
Card she made for me.
Her name Dominique
She said touch that light
From ceiling she would peek
At me as I'd write,
On that old chalkboard
Subteacher real tall
I thought they were bored
Hardly talked at all
Those cards proved me wrong.
They were listening.
I stood tall and strong
Their eyes glistening,
