Analysis of PLAYED

Cindy Martz 1968 (MISSOURI)

I WISH I COULD TURN BACK TIME
TO WHERE MY HEART WASN'T BROKEN
TO WHERE I NEVER HEARD OR BELIEVED
ALL THE LIES THAT WERE SPOKEN

CAUSE MAYBE THEN, JUST MAYBE I WOULD
FEEL NORMAL, INSTEAD OF HAVING A HOLE
NOT JUST IN MY HEART BUT
DOWN DEEP IN MY SOUL

YOU PLAYED ME, MADE ME THINK I
MEANT SOMETHING TO YOU, I AM SUCH A FOOL
YOU RUNNING AROUND WITH HER
IN FRONT OUR FRIENDS ACTING  SO COOL

WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO TREAT ME THIS WAY
I HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT GOOD TO YOU
NOW I DON'T BELIEVE A WORD YOU SAY
YOU WANT ME TO CAUSE A BIG SCENE

BUT THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY
I AM OUT I AM DONE
I DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS
IT'S CLEAR TO SEE YOU' RE THE ONE.
