Analysis of NewLife
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
This I say to testify,
That you must no longer walk;
The ways of the pagans deny,
Or how the Gentiles talk.
The vanity of their minds,
And darkened understanding;
Alienates spiritual kinds,
Of what God is commanding.
They have blindness in their heart,
Hardness that becomes callous;
Greediness that does impart,
With poison in their chalice.
That’s not what you learned from Christ,
Assuming that you have heard;
Earthly pleasures not enticed,
When you abide in His Word.
You were taught in Him the truth,
And must put off the old self;
The old manner of your youth,
Deceitful lusts on the shelf.
Be renewed in the Spirit,
The new self-likeness of God;
Righteousness to inherit,
Holy to honor and laud.
