Analysis of Deep in the Night

Deep in the night, the sun is tucked away
A peaceful feeling that puts us at ease
A feeling comes that can't be felt in day
It drifts towards us just like a summer breeze
We sit inside my car deep in the night
And cuddle very close, we're just best friends
We both agreed that it would not be right
For love to go destroy us in the end.
She shuts her eyes, so snug inside my arms
I start to drift asleep, my spirits high
And on this night the magic works its charms
Into a feeling that I can't deny
At first, I think, "I can't."  It's not allowed
But my subconscious starts to shout out loud.

It happened, and I swear by accident
I pull away as if to reprimand
That's when she asks, "Can you do it again?"
"I really like it when you hold my hand."
We intertwine our fingers very close
They yell out loud to never again part
I feel as though I might just overdose
From feelings pouring straight out of my heart
And later on that night, we're once again
Right by eachother, sitting side by side
We still pretend, for now, that we're just friends
We're locking our true feelings deep inside.
Now we're a powder keg, about to blow
But when it does, our feelings, they will grow.

And on that campground, sitting side by side
We finally let free what's in our hearts
In an emotional, wild coaster ride
At last, it hits us: We can't be apart.
Our faces moving closer in the night
It seems as though no one else is awake
The stars above, the only source of light
They're twinkling now, reflecting on the lake.
We just cannot resist no longer, hell,
If time itself had skidded to a halt
With what would happen next, we'd never tell.
Deep in the night, it's neither of our fault.
Her lips are warm like summer, I'm at peace
She wraps her arms around my neck at ease.

And now, we can't believe what we have done.
We kinda laugh, we feel so insecure
But then we think that she's the perfect one
For me, and I'm the perfect one for her.
At first, it was an awkward thing to do,
Being in love, against what we had swore
But as time went along, our love just grew.
We didn't have to fear it anymore
And now, years later, everything's alright
We're very happy with what's happened since.
It all had started on that long past night.
We both agree it's not coincidence
Because we now know love can't be restrained.
And We're both happy with what we have gained.

About this poem

Two friends are camping and enjoying themselves. They have said many times in the past that they only want to be friends, afraid to ruin their friendship by loving each other romantically. However, love has its ways to weave its magical spell, which these two friends are about to learn. (I made this as an assignment for English Class. It's supposed to be in sonnet format but It's not a perfect Shakesperian )
