Analysis of Whispers of Desire

Violet Echo 1977 (IN)

Shhh, let’s not speak on what we feel
….it will become real. Words spoken under cover of a soft breath that burns with a yearning you can barely describe.

Shhh, let’s not pretend that what this is doesn’t scare you, keep you awake at night wondering what it would be like to touch my skin, smell my hair, feel my lips, feel me quiver. If you say you don’t then I will know that you’re a liar.

Shh, let’s not pretend that I am a desire you bury deep inside you because you’ve never been with a woman like me, a QUEEN like me, a warrior like me, a woman that knows what she brings to the table…..(can you hear my heart beating out of my chest, can you hear the crack in my voice)….a woman that knows how to make you want even more.

Shhh, what we are is unspeakable and I’m at a loss for words the moment you stare into my eyes.

About this poem

We all have people in our past that stirred something in us but too afraid to speak it into existence.
