Analysis of La Tricoteuse

Maurice Rollinat 1846 (Châteauroux) – 1903 (Ivry-sur-Seine)

Tu tricotais ton bas de laine,
Toute rose et toute mignarde,
O ma friponne campagnarde,
Quand je t’abordai hors d’haleine.

— Suis-je encore loin de la plaine ?
— Oui, monsieur, fis-tu goguenarde,
Tu tricotais ton bas de laine,
Toute rosé et toute mignarde.

Or, j’avais bu comme Silène,
Et j’étais d’humeur si gaillarde,
Que je dis : « Tant pis ! je m’attarde ! »
Et quand je partis à grand’peine,
Tu tricotais ton bas de laine.
