Analysis of A Poem For The Inflicted

-A Poem For The Inflicted-
Written By: Jessica Sheppard

-calmly- and -with care-

How do you sleep so soundly, When you set my mind a blaze.
Burning every ounce of happiness I find along the way.

A twisted creature of habit, that leaves damage in it’s wake.
Spewing words of manipulation and smearing on the hate.

You cannot stop the evil, it’s their souls that are corrupt. It’s their purpose to destroy and build those fires up.

But what about YOUR purpose?
You know?
The one to spread Love and Light.....

The purpose you were put here for, to help make this world more bright.

You are worth so much more than your circumstance and the struggles you go through.

I promise it’s the Enemy.

It has nothing to do with YOU!

I’m here as a reminder, that LOVE shall always prevail; and conquer over evil, as it once did and always will.

Don’t let the evil inside your mind. It will cultivate and disease.
But if you do, it’s quite alright, I’m here to interject you, with a shining, brilliant Light.

A light that will truly change you; and wash away your pain.
A light that will hold you and make you whole again.

A light so bright it could blind you; reaching every corner of the earth.
A light that’s found in everyone, even those we deem the worst.

They are covered from head to toe, in the hate that they put out.
Rotting words and a bitter taste is all that’s in their mouth.

It’s enough to turn your stomach and make you look away.
Just think of their tortured soul, having to look at it, every day.

But no matter how bad hate has touched you; and no matter how bad it may hurt.
The light you have inside your soul, will heal even the worst.

Please don’t try to understand it, there's simply no sense to be found.

Let it go and let God.
