Analysis of A Lovely Request

God, I know you make us the way that we are
But why does life have to be so hard?
People sometimes like each other and sometimes can be friends
But they could also fight each other until the world ends.
They may have some battles, they may have some wars.
But they don't always know what they're fighting for.
We fight for race, money, religion, or land
Or for some other reason we don't understand.
We can have mass destruction such as Hiroshima
Or we can be like FEMA after Hurricane Katrina.
We pretend to give help to people like you
But there's no love in the actions we do.
We're sometimes real cynical or just have hate
Because we don't take the time to appreciate
The people in our lives or the gifts we have now
Or the moments you create that can make us say "Wow."
Although life doesn't always turn out to be
The dream that we desperately want to believe
The fact is that life can be just as good
Even though your actions can be misunderstood.
So Father, I ask for some guidance from above
And just show everyone that there really is love.
