Analysis of DREAMS (Poem #261)

Dreams are memories we share with the night.
Some can bring comfort and others fright.

Things we have seen while paying little attention
Are now in our minds, hanging in suspension.

Can we put thoughts together and out of them make sense?
Or is there a wall between or even a fence?

A wall will leave blanks when we wonder why?
Or looking through a fence, some senses reply.

With feelings we never knew that we had
From deep within our soul, our dreams are clad.

Sometimes our imagination runs amok,
And into a scary scene we become stuck.

The moon has risen and now comes the sun
When we awake and our dreams are all done.

Jean Gorney

I wrote a poem for my daughter and new son-in-law and read it at their wedding reception in 1997. People have been encouraging me ever since. I try to write up-beat and happy poetry. My poetry has been in many anthologies, newspapers, church bulletins, etc. I won a small contest once. I self-published some small(4x5)books with about 16 poems in each that can be used as greeting cards. I include an envelope for mailing. Check them out on my FB page under Jean Magill Gorney. more…
