Analysis of In the Name of Love

It came to me, this fateful day
Perhaps it’s time I start to pray
In hopes that I can reach the horde
And turn their minds unto the lord

Where sayeth we must live as thee
Or face the loss of liberty
Unless we play within your rules
You deem us all unworthy fools

Tonight I say a prayer to thee
In love of land and speech of free
‘tis sad to have this thought in me
This land so just, is not, you see

So bring to me the words of hope
To help my brethren learn to cope
And rise above the ones who hate
Who preach the lord - discriminate!

These types of minds who think they’re just
In the name of god, they feel they must
Expunge the evil within their midst
To sever our kind like a festered cyst

Their tongues of forked, they spew their fear
In hopes to oppress the folk of queer
Scaring the masses across our land
They persecute those who lend a hand

I write these words in hopes to enlighten
Those hearing their words and thus are frightened
We are not the wanton they’ve placed in your mind
We are your children, your siblings, your loved ones of kind

So let us together erase this fear
They cling on to so tightly and hold so dear
We must take the high road, sink not to their level
For in doing so, we side with the devil

In order to prove we’re not these disgraces
We must come forward and show the world our faces
‘tis time we heal and begin to repair
Our nation’s woes, beyond despair

Oh sing a song of new and bright
Sing of words with joy and might
That one day soon, we’ll rise above
And be the victor , in the name of love
