Analysis of Shadow of my past
I have gone on with life and the years have been good you see
And yet today I wake up with thoughts of you and me.
I tried to stop the thoughts of you but instead they overwhelmed me
And like a broken levee the tears rolled unexpectedly.
In my thoughts I felt your touch as you stroked my hair and face,
laying in your big strong arms in such a sweet embrace.
I knew it wasn't real, though I wanted it to be
And I tried to fight the tears I cried so you I couldn't see.
Step back into the shadows to the memories of our time
Back to that September day when I was yours and you were mine.
