Analysis of What Poetry Is
It is the art of making shadows found
And lends existence to all things inert.
It's music in words, music is it's sound,
Words that turn luminous, love they assert.
Reveals to us how lovely nature be,
Brings back the freshness of that youthful feel,
Revives the relish of mere pleasantry,
Refines that youthful love with great appeal.
Makes interest in human nature strong
Describing vividly those feelings soft
And through prophetic vision makes one long
For faith to lay hold on new life aloft.
It's sorrow's sister, vent for man's lament;
Each tear a verse, each poem the heart is rent.
