The Nowhere Land
"These fragments I have shored against my ruins."
-- T.S. Eliot
The Nowhere Land
The shining schemes of the elders
Have become just another plot
The bones are all plowed under
On a farm somebody bought
Into a land that time forgot
Summer sprang, and winter fell
Buried in the shallows
Pennies in a wishing well
I went in search of that nowhere
They say people are to be found
And I found it, too -- I'd love to share
But I'm nowhere to be found
There's somebody somewhere looking for me
In the nowhere to be found
I'd love to tell where
In nowhere to look
But I don't know where
In nowhere I am
To be found
The farm that I am buying
Is on a plot hidden from me
Hidden in the know not where
A mind amuck and free
Sometimes you can find me here
Out at you from over, peeking
I wish me here, you wish me there
A bridge washed out, relatively speaking
There's somebody somewhere looking for me
In the nowhere to be found
I'd love to tell where
In nowhere to look
But I don't know where
In nowhere I am
To be found
Some say the mind is a terrible thing
Or a terrible thing to waste
I'm skipping on a schoolyard
You're tripping on a place
I am the land that time forgot
I'm a vision out of sight
I'm a child again, and look at you
All grown up
I love you
Goodnight
"And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything."
-- William Shakespeare
Dedicated to those hiding in The Nowhere Lands of Dementia and Alzheimer's, and to those who search for them.
(Some say dementia's dimensions
Must be solved or eliminated
But God gave us all plots to wander
In the minds that He created)
