Life

Shawn Dowell 1980 (Taledo, Oh)

Sometimes the day grow long and weary.
And the nights grow cold and dark.
And we find ourselves alone, not knowing where we are.
When the things we use to dream about, flash before our eyes, and we realize, the life we lived, was all a bunch of lies.
With all the drugs that we've injected, now we start to feel the pain.
And we start to wonder, if our life has been in vain.
We start to think about the future, we wonder what lies ahead.
But as the tears roll down our face, we're wishing we were dead.
We never stop to think about, the ones who really care,
And when we're needed most, we're hardly ever there.
We hide ourselves in darkness, afraid to see the light.
And we walk around for hours, searching shelter from the night.
We take another drug, to try to ease the pain. And the visions that we see, makes us wanna go insane.
When we finally realize, that the life we lived was wrong.
And we need someone to be there, to help us be strong.
And when the tears begin to fall, and you don't know where to turn.
And you feel the pain inside, and your soul begins to burn.
Just remember this, the Lord is watching you.
He knows our every thought, and he knows everything we do.
So lift your eyes above, and give him all your pain and strife.
And scream to the heavens, LORD, help me through this life.
