Along the Battle
How a quiver of arrows
Had the purpose
To pierce my heart.
Bitter indeed
Are the arrows of strife.
How passion tasted
Is a foul tart,
It tastes rotten,
And tears apart.
How the marksman
Is the Devil,
Don't let him bring you down
To his level.
Nothing worth while
That he would adore,
Don't be like him
I implore.
How fighting the Devil
Is a battle
At our core.
He will throw everything at us,
even a whore.
How the wind chime
Dings once
And there is no time.
We see a losing battle
While heaven and hell
Is above and below,
Whether or not
We are on the wrong side
For the battle
Of our soul.
How sacrifice
Is not the fruit
Of the wicked,
But of the chariots of righteousness
And the glory of God's convicted.
How Jesus
Is the light
Who's rays reflect
The arrows of darkness
Deep in our hearts.
He saves us
From falling into hell
So we can fight back
After we've fell.
How in the end
Jesus makes a stand.
We fight alongside our King
With faith,
It's our fate
Before it's too late.
See how the armor
Of darkness
Binds us and blinds us,
Bitter indeed is a fallen state.
