Sovereignty
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Why does He still find fault?
Who can resist His will?
When our actions not,
For anger to instill.
To answer back to God,
What is molded to say?
For have we become flawed,
Though we trust and obey.
Has the potter no right,
To mold a lump of clay;
To honor and delight,
In a creative way.
An honorable use,
For vessels that were made;
But dishonored abuse,
Not worth for the price paid.
If God wants to show wrath,
To make known His power;
Destruction crosses path,
Like beasts to devour.
The wealth of His glory,
In vessels of mercy;
Bring the judge and jury,
By what He would decree.
For to whom He has called,
Not from only the Jews;
But Pagans who applaud,
Have been allowed to choose.
Those not as His people,
He will call His select;
Now enters His temple,
No longer to reject.
They are now His cherished,
Considered His children;
Sons of God not perished,
For adopting each one.
