Reach Forward
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Let those of us who are mature,
Anything you think otherwise;
God will reveal what is obscure,
That will open up our eyes.
Only let us hold what is true,
Whereto of that we have attained;
Let us walk the same we construe,
In the wisdom we have obtained.
Join in by imitating me,
And keep your eyes on those who walk;
As an example as you see,
Listen carefully how to talk.
Many of whom have often told,
And now tell you even with tears;
Walking with the cross as so bold,
That our enemy has fears.
Enemies of the cross of Christ,
As their end will be destruction;
Because their god has been enticed,
By their lusts of a seduction.
For they glory is in their shame,
With their minds set on earthly things;
Their lifestyle is set on fame,
And as to what a pleasure brings.
Citizenship is in Heaven,
From it we await a Savior;
For what the Father has given,
As He looks on us with favor.
Christ will transform our vile,
Lowly body to glorious;
For a spiritual lifestyle,
Knowing He will be victorious.
