Letter to Mona

Letter to Mona
Hey, dear. it's me again. i would love to drink my morning tea / but not yet / not till i warm your day
with the art in my heart / & send the sun to your view / & birds to your window. the mirror on your
wall awaits / to see the flowers on your face— the reflection of perfection / beautiful perfection. i
would hang my eyes to be that mirror. to be a part of you / i would sew for you a dress with my skin.
and if i were Leonardo / i would paint you a portrait with my blood. sweet Mona! i could be the pillow
you rely & lie on / if only you see me; the love, waiting right there. right here. holding your hands &
a rose. if only you knew me / the one; always there for you but not there. It's me / still me / & me again.
About this poem
It's a romance eulogy and also a lyric. The poem is about an unknown lover who tries to woo and express his affection for a lady, Mona. The unknown lover describes the beautiful features of this lady and speaks of even hurting himself to show her how much he does love her. He boasts of being an artist of love. He also tells how he is always present with her and at the same time not present which can be deduced that he stalks her. The poet personae and unknown lover who isn't writing to her for the first time affirms that he is the one and still the one that writes to her. The poem can also be seen as epistolary. more »
