I Quit

Paula Rowlands 1968 (WA)

Tossing and turning
in pain every night
unable to sleep
then I see light

Too tired to arise
and crawl out of bed
the day has begun
dogs to be fed

My buttons are pushed
All day long
sick of the pressure
the coercion is wrong

I feel the weight
a real heavy load
the darkness with in
wants to explode

Damn all the pricks
making life unfair
so I quit my job
and don’t really care.

About this poem

The truth of what a lot of people are going through including me.
