Lightning

I looked up at the sky
And saw flashes of light
Striking across the clouds.
they lit up the morning sky
Just for a moment,
Before slipping back into darkness.

And I couldn't help but think
That lightning strikes
Are just like people.
Who are there for a moment,
Lighting up your life briefly
Before fading away again.
