Letting you go

Oh how it hurts
to let you go.

To let you hate me
without letting you know.

You try to understand
why I'm acting so strange.

I can't begin to tell you
I don't even know.

That person inside me
is on a rampage
tearing down everything
I've worked so hard to attain.

This person is hurting you
I can't let it go on.

So I'll just exit
and pray you'll survive.

I know that you need me
I need you even more.

But that person inside me
says it's you or it's me!

About this poem

This is about a person figuring out, late in life, that they are gay. Needing to let go of a friend they are attracted to.
