Life is beautiful because of death

There is meaning in living because its not eternal
Cherish a moment because its not forever
Smell the flowers because winter will come
Enjoy your youth before you are out of breath.

Sing a song to celebrate your life
Dare to dream, live and love, believe the impossible
A blinding light will open your eyes
Nothing is real but it will come to pass.

About this poem

While death is tragic, the author realizes that the fragility of life is what gives it meaning, exactly because life will not last forever one must live life to the fullest and make it beautiful. This poem is also inspired by the allegory of the cave.
