The hovering magpies romance
Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)
The magpie was not fully grown
He sat too still, too long - on his own
And when he moved he ruffled along, the fence
So hungry, turning way too much and hence
Fluffy coat kept him strong in man's suspence - in, the, air.
Such was his life until his mothers care he could not touch
And as he came of age of mouth
Fending for himself north and fending for his sibling south
His hovering forward became a glide
Proud like the sea and steep like the tide
One mournful day he lost his sibling
And looked upon a female wing
They moved their necks just to entrance
When twer held by hands of a black man, in spring
For God had chosen them to bring
Their frantic cries into a song to sing
They felt the lychee tree touch them - in, the, breeze.
When they were gently to be free by a white bride to be
And when nestling happily, a, tiny, egg
Also came to be and chirped wild a cry and gave a tiny sneeze for it was sick and for its end
A lifetime in the making
A beacon, a friend.
a light in the dark
For an angel in, the, park.
And from the tiny egg was born
A soul with potential carried on, the, morn
With eyes opened first only for the angel
As their light tiny hearts were trembling.
Were trembling.
Then, stopped, trembling.
