One Fire; Two Camps
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
Where once there was a fire fight
There now remains a Storm
The bodies of his enemies
Are strewn across the shore
The sea gave up the dead in it
And Death and Hades too
They’re cast into the fiery lake
The second death is true
Then I saw a new heaven
And the earth was also new
There were no clouds to cover it
Just skies of crystal blue
I saw that there was no sea
And there was no distant shore
God had wiped all our tears away
No one could ask for more
He taught us all from house to house
This place was all his own
And he delighted in it
As he sat upon his throne
No evil was brought into it
Nor those who don’t do right
There is no need to lock the gates
Because there is no night
The light of God shines forth for us
And Jesus is his lamp
No sorrow, death or pain is here
It’s in a different camp
