Taw
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Let me cry come near before You,
Give understanding to Your Word;
So I can speak everything true,
While living in one accord.
Let my supplication I plea,
Deliver according to Your Word;
Open my eyes so I can see,
Along with my ears that I heard.
My lips will utter forth Your praise,
For You have taught me Your statutes;
Because You are beloved always,
Reaping from me the choice fresh fruits.
My tongue will be singing Your Word,
For all Your commandments are right;
While speaking nothing is slurred,
While I remain in the light.
Let Your hand always be ready,
For I have chosen Your precept;
Staying the course slow and steady,
So Satan does not intercept.
I have longed for Your salvation,
Because Your Law is my delight;
And to be Your new creation,
Wanting to do everything right.
Let me praise and my soul to live,
As Your rules and judgment assist;
Throughout the past, You did forgive,
From temptations, I tried to resist.
They have caused me to go astray,
Since I acted like a lost sheep;
Help Your servant as to obey,
Through Your teaching and You may reap.
