The Creator
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The Lord abundantly waters trees,
Allowing to be full of sap;
As they sway in the gentle breeze,
Rays from the sun their leaves will trap.
For all the cedars He planted,
Where the birds are building a nest;
Laying their eggs so enchanted,
A place for them where they can rest.
The eagle lives in trees of fir,
Perched high above for spotting prey;
Looking for rats or a gopher,
For feeding the young every day.
Wild goats stay in the high mountains,
Rocks are refuge for a rabbit;
They quench their thirst from the fountains,
And other creatures of habit.
God made the moon for the season,
The sun knows its time for setting;
He makes the darkness with reason,
To summon each star for vetting.
It is the night when all the beasts,
Out of the forest creep about;
The lion looks for that he feasts,
That God provides without a doubt.
At sunrise, they will steal away,
Return back to their dens and lairs;
Takes the reward of their caught prey,
For its family that he shares.
Man goes out to his work at dawn,
To his labor till it is night;
Evening comes, the daylight is gone,
Then he will rest till morning light.
